Why Repair?
Fabric waste is a massive contributor to pollution. Fast fashion and the ever quickening trend cycle are compounding the effect of fabric waste. Reusing old clothing helps cut down on the amount of new clothing that will end up in landfill.
Repair Tips
Buttons
- To sew a button back on:
- 1. Thread a needle and knot the end of the thread.
- 2. Push the needle up through the underside of the fabric where the button was, then through a hole in button.
- 3. Push the needle down through a hole opposite the one the thread is currently in and back to the underside of the fabric.
- 4. Repeat several times until the button feels secure.
- 5. Tie a knot on the underside of the fabric to secure the button
Patching Holes
- To sew a patch over a hole:
- 1. Cut a peice of fabric slightly larger than the hole.
- 2. Place the patch underneath the hole.
- 3. Use a needle and thread to sew around the edge of the hole, catching the patch fabric.
- 4. Tie a knot on the underside of the fabric to secure the patch.
